Hunting for mini beasts on the Heath

Year 1 had a fun morning with the education team at Hampstead Heath where they took part in a Heath Beasts workshop! We learnt about the features which make a habitat successful; shelter, food, water, air and a mate.
We took a close look at three habitats pond, woodland and meadow. Children were brilliant at hunting for animals in the woodland, pond dipping andmeadow sweeping. We found several animals; newts, ramshorn snail, mayfly nymph, woodlice, centipedes, butterflies, aphids just to name a few!
