Harvest Collection for Camden Foodbank

Thank you so much to our wonderful families for all the donations today to support Chalk Farm Foodbank.

Message from the Foodbank about their work and importance of your donations

Chalkfarm Foodbank is a community-based project operating locally in Kentish town and supporting residents in the borough of Camden

Our aim is to be a collaborative project that engages with the whole community to tackle hunger and poverty in our local area.

Our food bank helps individuals and families through the provision of banks provides emergency food and compassionate, dignified support to people locked in crisis. Non-perishable, in-date food is donated by local organisation and the general public at a range of places, such as schools, churches, and businesses, as well as supermarket collection points. Care professionals such as health visitors, social workers and other community-based support workers identify people in crisis and issue them with a food bank voucher. This means people can receive a food bank parcel of three days’ nutritionally balanced, non-perishable food from our project and will be welcomed with a cup of tea.

Our food bank network helps people break free from poverty by providing additional support to help people resolve the crises they’re facing, such as debt advice, mental health support, or benefits guidance. Food banks rely on the support of their local communities to support people in crisis.

Our foodbank is part of The Trussell Trust’s UK foodbank network, which gave close to 3 million emergency food parcels between April 2022 and March 2023. A large proportion of this food came from Harvest collections throughout the UK, each providing for their local food bank.

We really appreciate all and the support you a offer. Together, we can ensure help is here for everyone who needs it in Kentish town & borough of Camden whilst we also collectively work towards a more just future where no one needs our food bank to get by.
