EP Highlights

We’ve welcomed all our remaining Early Years children this week, and it has been lovely to see them explore, discover and play with their new friends as they start their learning journey with us.

Year 1 had such a special experience today as they met much-loved author Julia Donaldson and illustrator Axel Scheffler at The British Library, where they shared their latest book,Gruffalo Granny’. Wonderful for our children to meet the creative minds behind so many of their favourite stories and to help inspire their own love of reading, writing and illustration!

We hope to see all parents and carers at our Meet the Teacher sessions in classrooms next Wednesday 16th September at 5pm, repeated at 5:30pm (for Year 6 the times are 4:45-5:30pm, repeated at 5:30-6:15pm). These short sessions are an important opportunity to meet your child’s teacher and hear about expectations, learning priorities and any key trips planned for the year ahead.

Families who are new to EP, including those joining Nursery, Reception or other year groups, are also warmly invited to our Meet the Heads: Welcome to EP! session on Tuesday 22nd September after morning drop-off, and repeated from 2:50–3:30pm. We’ll share more about our school ethos and how we can work together to give your child the best possible primary school experience. We particularly encourage all new families to attend.

Shana Tovah to families celebrating Rosh Hashanah!

Best wishes,
Natalie and Sally

 Some Safeguarding Reminders:

  • During the school day, please buzz the office to enter the school site, and do not hold the door open for anyone unless they are a person known to you.
  • To limit disruption to lessons please do not enter the Junior block during the day, ask the office to collect children or to drop off forgotten items.
  • We are required to have up to date details for children and know that families may have moved house or changed contact details over the summer. You can update these details yourself on Arbor, or the office can help. In addition to parent/guardian contacts, we must have an additional two emergency contact names and numbers. Of course, we would always persist in reaching parents and carers, but need these additional contacts on file for exceptional circumstances.

Activity Clubs Start!

Activity Clubs start next week and run weekly until Friday 11th December. Sign up on the links below to join an activity club. The cost for activity clubs is £20 a term, a flat fee (whether attending one club or multiple activities) and this will be invoiced on Arbor once clubs start.  If your family is eligible for Free School Meals then all activity clubs are free.

Tuesday Football is for children chosen for the squad and, if this is the only activity club attended,  there is no participation cost. The squad names will be confirmed on Monday.

Trip Contributions

A reminder to families that we request a voluntary contribution to help fund the many wonderful trips, visitors and workshops your children enjoy across the whole year at EP. This contribution will appear on Arbor under payments in the Quick Actions orange bar and shows a Class Trips & Visits 26-27. We hope that many families will feel able to offer support. We also understand that parents of children in Years 5 and 6 may be paying for residential trips this term, and that spreading or part-paying contributions across the year may be more manageable for some. Thank you.
