Hunting for inventions at the Science Museum

Year 1 had an amazing day at the Science Museum today. We have been learning about significant inventions in history and visited the museum to explore the ‘Secret Life of the Home’ gallery. Children moved around the gallery in groups looking at domestic inventions and how they changed over time, from the 1800s to the early 2000s. Children spotted objects for washing and ironing clothes, preparing and cooking food, cleaning, lighting and entertainment. Children reflected on their favourite inventions; toilets and cooker were popular choices!

We also explored the Flight gallery and saw the impressive body of aeroplanes from the 1900s to modern day. Children enjoyed pointing out a number of fighter jets and a sea plane and were excited to see the range of real aircraft suspended overhead.

Our last stop was the interactive play area, the Garden. Children loved exploring construction, water, light and sound through play!
