Home Learning – Flower Dissection

Being at home isn’t stopping us from learning LOTS about our new topic – ‘How Does Your Garden Grow?’

After learning about what plants need to survive and thrive, we have been examining flowers carefully and learning all the different parts. There are a lot of names to learn!

Miss T filmed a video of herself dissecting a tulip which we watched carefully and some of us even had a go at doing our own at home. Can you see our work?

It was amazing to see inside the centre and find the anther, filament, stigma, pistil and ovule!

We learnt a trick for remembering that the anther is male…remember ANTHONY is a man’s name….ANTHERNY….so the ANTHER is the male part of the flower!
