Reception have been doing lots of work on the story of the race between animals that arranged the order of the Chinese Zodiac. A key part of the story involves the animals trying to cross a river. Working in the Lab, we used toy animals to think about floating and sinking. Before we put our chosen animal into the ‘river’ we predicted whether it would float or sink. After observing what actually happened, we made new predictions using a different toy animal, thinking carefully about the features that we had observed on the toys that had floated the first time round!
