Year 4 have written letters to the Chancellor Philip Hammond to ask him to scrap the proposed tax hike on solar panels. We delivered these to The Treasury today!
The proposed tax increase will see us facing an increased tax bill for hundreds of pounds. Having worked so hard to fundraise £19,000 to have our panels installed and having saved 6 tonnes of CO2 so far, we are determined to make our protest known!
The hike, which comes into force in April, is set to disproportionately affect state schools, as private schools, free schools and academies are exempt due to their charitable status. A Greenpeace petition calling on the chancellor to rethink the hike has already received over 125,000 signatures.
