Glow in the dark jelly!

On Friday 3rd February Year 1 had a glow in the dark party!

Earlier in the week we made glow in the dark jelly… some children thought the magic ingredient was going to be a light bulb, or electricity, or the sun and others carrots – as they help you see in the dark!

In fact our magic ingredient was tonic water which contains Quinine. The Quinine absorbs UV light and emits it as a ‘blue’ glowing light!

We also found other things that glow in the dark – like the fluorescent face paints, glow sticks, reflectors and the fluorescent jacket!

We are really enjoying our ‘Light & Dark’ science topic!
